چکیده

We read with interest the recent paper by KATCHAR et al. [1] reporting the characterisation of natural killer (NK) cells and CD56+ T-cells in sarcoidosis patients. The authors observed that, in the lung of patients with pulmonary sarcoidosis, NK cells have a distinct phenotype. They produce cytokines and participate actively in the T-helper (Th)-1-like inflammatory response. In addition, although they did not find any difference in the NK cell number between sarcoidosis patients and control subjects, the authors found an elevation of CD56+ T-cells in the peripheral blood (PB) of sarcoidosis patients. CD56+ T-cells are large granular lymphocytes with a significant proportion of CD4-CD8cells or cd T-cells, and, to our knowledge, this is the first study in which such expansion of CD56+ T-cells in PB is described in sarcoidosis.

The State of Peripheral Blood Natural Killer Cells and Cytotoxicity in Women with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and Unexplained Infertility

Objective : The prognostic value of peripheral natural killer (pNK) cells, as a screening test in women with recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) and unexplained infertility is still a matter for discussion. The aim of this study was to compare the percentage of circulating CD56+NK cells, CD69 and perforin markers between women with unexplained infertility and RPL with healthy control group. Material...

Characterisation of natural killer cells and CD56+ T-cells in sarcoidosis patients.

The aim of the current study was to investigate the frequency, phenotype and functional activity of natural killer (NK) cells and CD56+ T-cells in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and peripheral blood of patients with pulmonary sarcoidosis when compared with healthy volunteers, using staining with a panel of monoclonal antibodies followed by flow cytometry. The results revealed that the majorit...

CD56+ T cells in the peripheral blood of uveitis patients.

AIMS Natural killer T (NKT) cells, T lymphocytes expressing both T cell and NK cell markers, are suggested to be involved in autoimmune diseases. To examine the relation between the pathogenesis of uveitis and CD56+ T cells, which are thought to be a type of human NKT cells, we investigated peripheral CD56+ T cells in uveitis patients. METHODS 41 uveitis patients (Behçet's disease (BD), 14; s...

Introduction: Immunological processes are most important in recurrent spontaneous abortion(RSA). According to studies T lymphocytes and natural killer cells(NK cells) are two effective cell groups in RSA. The aim of this study was to investigate the percentage and absolute number of natural killer(NK) cells in women with RSA with unknown etiology. Methods: 24 Women with a history of recurrent ...
